Biographical Information[edit]

Angel Araiza was a pitcher in the Mexican League from 2010 to 2018. Starting in the middle of his second season, 2011, he was with the Olmecas de Tabasco, pitching for the team in eight different seasons. He had started his career with the Dorados de Chihuahua in 2010, going 4-3, 4.43 in 16 games, and started 2011 with the Saraperos de Saltillo before joining Tabasco to stay. He was 0-1, 7.12 for Saltillo and 2-0, 1.69 for Tabasco. He was normally a starting pitcher, but he never had more than 7 wins in any season, when he went 7-6, 4.83 in 24 games in 2012.

In 2016, he was 6-4, 2.98 in 20 games including 19 starts, but it was his one relief appearance which was remarkable. It came in the early hours of the morning on May 18th in a game against the Rojos del Aguila de Veracruz that had started the evening before and was still going on, having been tied at 5-5 since the 7th inning. He was the final pitcher for Tabasco and received credit for the win when Uriak Marquez drove in Adrian Gutierrez with the winning run in the 23rd inning after 7 hours and 34 minutes of playing time. The 23 innings tied a league record also achieved in 1977 and 2001.
