Biographical Information[edit]
Andy Olsen began his pitching career with the Andalusia Arrows in 1949-1950. He was 11-7 4.18 and 18-12 3.70. Olsen was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1950 Rule V Draft and spent 1951 to 1956 in the Pirates chain, missing 1952-1953 for military service.
Olsen began his umpiring career in the Sophomore League in 1959. He worked in the Northern League (1960-1962), Eastern League (1963-June 1965), and Pacific Coast League (June 1965-1968). He was then a National League umpire from September 1968 to 1980.
