Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Andrew Thurman was a second-round selection by the Houston Astros in the 2013 amateur draft, out of the University of California, Irvine. he began his professional career that year with the Tri-City ValleyCats of the New York-Penn League. In 12 games, he went 4-2, 3.86 splitting his time between the starting rotation and the bullpen. In 2014, he moved up to the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Midwest League, where he was 7-9, 5.38 in 26 games, 20 of them starts. He pitched 115 1/3 innings, allowing 122 hits and striking out 107 against 40 walks.

On January 14, 2015, he was one of three prospects traded by the Astros to the Atlanta Braves in return for C Evan Gattis and P James Hoyt.
