Biographical Information[edit]

Andrea De Santis has played in Serie A1 for several years. He debuted in 2000, striking out in both of his at-bats for Grosseto. In '01, he hit .135/.205/.162 in 32 games, being used as a middle infielder. He batted .217/.303/.275 in 2002 in a similar role, fielding only .840 at shortstop. De Santis batted .282/.360/.346 in '03 while moving to the outfield. In 2004, he hit .242/.292/.288 in a utility role for Grosseto. He became the starting CF in 2005 and batted .211/.299/.319. In 2006, De Santis hit .248/.355/.343. He moved to the bench in '07 and hit .224/.281/.310 for Grosseto. He batted .301/.333/.416 in 2008 while splitting center field duties with Lorenzo Avagnina. He was 2 for 13 with 4 walks in the 2008 European Cup in Grosseto. He went 2 for 4 in the Final Four. De Santis played for Italy in the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
