Andrés Quintero

Biographical Information[edit]

Andrés Quintero starred for the Venezuelan national team in the 1953 Amateur World Series (having played previously in the 1951 Amateur World Series and 1952 Amateur World Series). He went 4-0 to help Venezuela win the Silver Medal (Cuba got the Gold) and Quintero was named Amateur World Series MVP. He had a 3.63 ERA in 22 1/3 IP in the 1955 Pan American Games (Venezuela got the Bronze) then coached for Venezuela when they won Gold in the 1959 Pan American Games (their only Pan American Games Gold through 2014).
