Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Anderson Tejeda had never played above Class A when he made his major league debut with the Texas Rangers on August 6, 2020, starting at second base against the Oakland Athletics. He was standing in for an injured Rougned Odor and had been called up from the team's alternate training site a few days earlier. Even more impressive, he had played only 43 games with the Down East Wood Ducks in the Carolina League in 2019, hitting .234, as his season was cut short by a shoulder injury. In spite of his lack of high level experience, he had an excellent first game, singling off Mike Fiers in the 5th for his first major league hit, driving in a run, and then stealing second base. He then hit a two-run homer off Fiers in the 7th.

He was originally signed by the Rangers as an amateur free agent on September 8, 2014, by scouts Roberto Aquino and Rodolfo Rosario. He made his professional debut the following year with the DSL Rangers 1 and DSL Rangers 2.
