Biographical Information[edit]
Amaury Telemaco never had one true standout season in the minors, he was still very consistent - his ERA was normally in the 3.20-3.50 range.
He made his Major League debut on May 16, 1996 with the Chicago Cubs at the age of 22, pitching 7 innings against the Houston Astros for the win. He gave up only 1 hit, but he did walk 4 batters. He is the only rookie pitcher ever to face Cy Young Award winners in his first three big league starts. He faced Doug Drabek, Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine in succession. He threw only one complete game in his major league career, a 6-1 victory against Glendon Rusch and the New York Mets on June 6, 2001, pitching for the Philadelphia Phillies.
He was a teammates of Terry Adams for eight years - longer than any other teammate. He wore three numbers in his MLB career: 44 (1996-1999), 47 (1999-2004), and 57 (2004-2005).
Telemaco was pitching coach of the DSL Red Sox in 2010-2014.
