Biographical Information[edit]

Amaury Garcia played in the Florida Marlins system from 1994-2000. During the 1999 season he made his major league debut and played 10 games in the majors, hitting two home runs in that brief stay. He moved to the Chicago White Sox chain in 2001 to complete his playing career in affiliated ball.

After leaving the White Sox, Garcia played for several years in other countries. These included Mexico, South Korea, China, and Italy. He played for Rimini in Italy from 2007-2008. During the 2007 European Cup he went 7 for 22 with 3 walks to help the team place third.

Garcia joined the Washington Nationals organization in 2011 and worked in their player development system through 2020. He was the hitting coach for the DSL Nationals in 2011, GCL Nationals in 2012-2013, Auburn Doubledays in 2014-2015, and Hagerstown Suns in 2016-2019. He was scheduled to coach the GCL Nationals again in 2020 before the minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19.

The Boston Red Sox hired Garcia in 2021 to serve as an international instructor at their Dominican Academy, a role he retained in 2022. He then managed the DSL Red Sox Blue in 2023-2024.

Garcia also worked as a hitting coach in the Dominican League with the Estrellas Orientales. In 2015 he was fired from his position on November 19th and replaced by Oscar Bernard. He returned to Estrellas in the same role for the 2017/2018 season.
