Biographical Information[edit]
Alta Cohen played 29 games in the National League over parts of three seasons with the Brooklyn Robins and Philadelphia Phillies. In 67 at bats, he hit .194. Cohen was the son of a Newark rabbi and had a minor league career that ran from 1928 to 1940. In 1932, he batted .412 for the Hartford Senators in 59 games, leading the league when the team abruptly folded. After baseball, he founded the Altco Products Company, running it for 44 years. He died at 94 in 2003.
