Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Allen Cordoba was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals before 2013. He played his first two seasons with the DSL Cardinals, hitting .272 in 41 games in 2013 and .258 in 62 games in 2014. In 2015, he moved to the US with the GCL Cardinals, where he hit a scorching .342 in 53 games. The rest of his batting line was not so awesome, as he drew only 15 walks with 10 extra base hits, but he did score 40 runs. In 2016, he moved to the Johnson City Cardinals of the Appalachian League where he continued to hit well, batting .362 in 50 games. He added 21 extra base hits and 22 stolen bases in 26 attempts and played shortstop, giving his hitting higher value. The Cardinals were in no rush to add him to their 40-man roster, so the San Diego Padres took with the third pick in the 2016 Rule V Draft, after securing the players taken with the first two picks thanks to pre-arranged deals with the two teams ahead of them.

Allen made the Padres' Opening Day roster in 2017 and debuted on April 3rd when he played an inning at shortstop and went 0-for-1 in a 14-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He stayed with the team all season, hitting .208 in 202 at-bats in 100 games, splitting his time mainly between the outfield and shortstop. The next two seasons, it was back to the minors.
