Biographical Information[edit]
Allen Conkwright went 24-7 for the 1920 Bloomington Bloomers and then pitched several games for the Detroit Tigers under manager Hughie Jennings in 1920. Allen was two years younger than teammate Harry Heilmann. Although he had a high ERA, his record was 2-1. He won the first two games he pitched, on consecutive days against the Boston Red Sox.
Allen, born in Missouri, attended Utah State University in 1916-1919. He was already playing minor league ball in 1918 for the Salt Lake City Bees, and in 1919 mostly with the Peoria Tractors. After 1920, he continued in the minors through 1924, most notably going 18-9 for the 1922 Evansville Evas.
