Biographical Information

Outfielder Allan Stallings starred for the University of Alabama. He drove in 190 runs during his college career (1982-1985); through 1985, he was 4th in the Southeastern Conference in career RBI, trailing Rafael Palmeiro and Will Clark most notably. The Cincinnati Reds chose him in the 7th round of the 1984 amateur draft but he did not sign and never played as a pro.

In the 1984 Amateur World Series, he played for Team USA and put up a better OPS than his corner outfield teammate Barry Bonds, hitting .238/.360/.548 to Bonds' .304/.319/.565. Stallings had four home runs and 11 runs in 12 games, leading the USA in both runs and homers. Allan tied Alfonso Urquiola for 5th in the Series in home runs; only Roberto Bianchi of Italy hit more by a non-Cuban. The US won Bronze.
