Biographical Information[edit]

Aleksey Lukashevich was the first minor leaguer from Belarus.

Lukashevich participated in the 2009 MLB European Academy. In the 2010 European Cup Qualifiers, he had a 1.59 ERA and hit .222 for the Brest Zubrs. He signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in July 2010; six MLB teams had showed interest. The scout was Tom Randolph. He made his pro debut on June 20, 2012, with the GCL Pirates, going a 1-2-3 9th inning with one strikeout to finish a win over the GCL Tigers. He had a productive summer for the team (1-0, 0.47 in 13 G, 14 H, 8 BB, 12 K in 19 IP) yet was released by the Bucs the next winter.
