Alexei Bakoutkine was the starting second baseman for the Russian national team in the 1998 Baseball World Cup. He hit .222/.263/.278 with no runs and one RBI in six games, fielding .912. He was 0 for 4 with a walk and a run in the 1999 European Championship, fielding .833 as the backup to Alexander Nizov.
