Biographical Information[edit]

Alexander Zhilkin played for Spartak in the Russian League, debuting in 2000 by going 5 for 12 with 4 walks, 4 runs and a RBI. He was on the Russian national team in the 2003 European Championship but did not get into a game. In the 2003 Baseball World Cup, he hit .235/.235/.471 with Russia's only homer and a team-high three RBI, fielding .824 as Andrey Sazonov's backup at catcher and handling four putouts in left, where he was also their second-most-used player, behind Andrey Bolotin. His dinger was off Yovani Aragón of champion Cuba, Russia's only run in a 20-1 loss.
