Biographical Information[edit]

Alexander Bogatyrev is the twin brother of Andrei Bogatyrev, his former teammate on the Russian national team. In the 1995 European Championship, he went 2 for 12 with a double, a walk, two runs and four strikeouts. He went 4 for 5 with a triple, steal and two runs in the 1998 Baseball World Cup, tying for second on Russia in hits despite ranking 12th in at-bats. In his lone game at third base, he had one putout, six assists and no errors.

Bogatyrev was 2 for 10 with a double, RBI and 3 runs in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, making 3 errors in 7 chances in the outfield. He also pitched to two batters, retiring one and allowing a home run to the other, Korean slugger Tae-kyun Kim. In the 2005 European Championship, he was 4 for 11 with a double and a walk as a backup outfielder for Russia.
