Biographical Information[edit]

Alex Wilson pitched three seasons in the minor leagues, from 2012 to 2014, after being selected in the 15th round of the 2012 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves. He was used solely as a reliever during his professional career, starting with the Danville Braves of the Appalachian League in 2012, and following with stops with the Rome Braves of the South Atlantic League in 2013 and the Lynchburg Hillcats of the Carolina League in 2014. He had some pretty good statistics in these three seasons, including ERAs of 2.73 and 2.02 in his first and last seasons, totals of 8 and 16 saves in his second and third, and 130 strikeouts against just 34 walks in 141 1/3 inningd.

On June 26, 2014, pitching for Lynchburg, he combined with future major leaguer Lucas Sims on a 5-1 no-hitter against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Sims pitched the first 7 innings, and Alex the final 2. What made this even more remarkable was that the very next day, two teammates, Cody Scarpetta and Benino Pruneda combined to pitch another no-hitter, this one 5-0, against the same team.

He is not to be confused with Alex Wilson, a contemporary pitcher who reached the majors.
