Biographical Information[edit]

Alex Farmer played in the majors in the month of September 1908 with the Brooklyn Superbas. He appeared in 12 games and might have had more but for an injury in the middle of the month [1]

The database for his minor league career is very incomplete, but he was playing minor league ball by 1900. He died at age 39 from tuberculosis.

"Al Farmer, who caught several seasons for Summit In the Lackawanna League, and played this season at Branchville, was given a trial with Brooklyn against the Phillies on September 1." - Sporting Life's mention of Farmer in the September 12, 1908 issue

"Brooklyn's young semi-professional catcher, Farmer, looks like a very good backstop. He has a fine throwing arm." - Sporting Life, September 19, 1908
