Biographical Information[edit]
Alex Donoghue, previously listed as Joe Donohue, played six games for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1891. The Sporting News of August 29, 1891, notes that he was released by Lebanon of the Eastern Association and signed by the Phillies. He was from Altoona, PA and was listed in that city's directory in 1890 as a ballplayer.
He moved to Pittsburgh, PA some time before 1930, where he shows up in census files. He died the following year and obituaries mention that he was a former ballplayer.
