Biographical Information[edit]

Alessandro Ercolani has pitched in the minor leagues and for the Italian national team. He is the son of Enea Ercolani. [1]

Ercolani was 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA for the ASD San Marino in 2020 and pitched one shutout inning in the 2020 Italian Series (which they lost to Fortitudo Bologna). [2] The Pittsburgh Pirates signed him, making him the first San Marino citizen signed by a MLB organization. [3] He was 2-3 with a 5.40 ERA for the FCL Pirates Gold in 2021. He allowed three runs (two earned) in 3 1/3 IP in the 2021 U18 European Championship. [4]

He improved to 1-0 with a 1.19 ERA for the FCL Pirates in 2022. He also pitched for Italy in the 2022 U-18 Baseball World Cup, with a 2.42 ERA in two outings. [5] Ercolani then made it onto Italy's roster for the 2023 World Baseball Classic, but he didn't pitch any games. [6] He was 4-5 with a 4.43 ERA for the Bradenton Marauders in 2023, and he had a 9.82 ERA in 4 appearances for the Salt River Rafters in the Arizona Fall League. He began '24 well with the Greensboro Grasshoppers and had a 6-2, 3.29 record with one save after 24 games (9 starts), striking out 93 in 76 2/3 IP.
