Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Alejandro Quezada was signed out of the Hiroshima Carp's Dominican Republic academy. He batted .311/.333/.475 with 3 HR's and 9 RBI in 34 games in 1998. Quesada was the Fresh All-Star Game MVP in 1998.
Alejandro Quezada was known as the first player to be posted via the Posting System, where he was posted by the Hiroshima Carp in 1999 for $400,001 to the Cincinnati Reds. In his first year (now known as Alejandro Diaz) with the A Clinton Lumberkings he batted .285/.327/.457 with 6 HR's and 41 RBI before being promoted to the AA Chattanooga Lookouts, where he batted .264/.295/.473 with 7 HR's and 35 RBI. Overall he stole 34 bases in 47 tries that year. Quezada never progressed past the AA level in his four remaining years with the Lookouts (2000-03). He hit .267/.290/.418 in 2000, with 13 homers and 18 steals (caught 20 times, though); he only walked 14 times in 491 AB. He batted .299/.319/.425 in just 25 games a year later and never played again as well or as often as he had previously.
In the 2007 Pan-American Games, Alejandro went 2 for 12 with a double, homer, walk and 3 runs for the Dominican Republic.
