Biographical Information[edit]

Aleck Pearsall played first base for the Brooklyn Excelsiors from 1859 to 1860. In 1861, he attended (presumably) Columbia University's medical school. During the winter of 1862, he became a surgeon for the Confederate Army, in Richmond, VA and later worked in Atlanta, GA. He also tended to Union soldiers, some of which were his former Excelsiors teammates. Unfortunately for Pearsall, once they found out it was him, he was expelled from the team. Pearsall was discharged from his duties in 1863. He and his wife had a daughter named Osa in 1870.
