Biographical Information

Albert Bracero was a two-time Olympian.

Bracero was the starting left fielder for the Puerto Rican national team in the 1988 Baseball World Cup, hitting .238/.250/.342 with 8 RBI in ten games. He remained with them for the 1988 Olympics, when they finished third; they did not get a Bronze as baseball would not be a medal event for four more years. He was also in the 1990 Goodwill Games. In the 1990 Baseball World Cup, Bracero produced at a .268/.342/.618 clip with 3 triples and 2 homers in 9 games. He tied German Mesa, Shinichi Sato and Jim Austin for the event lead in three-baggers.

Albert hit .387/~.424/.806 with 5 doubles and 8 extra-base hits in 8 games in the 1991 Pan American Games. He helped the Silver Medal winners by driving in nine runs. He tied Omar Linares, Jorge Aranzamendi and one other player for the event lead in doubles. In the 1992 Olympics, he batted .360/.407/.440 with 4 runs and 4 RBI in 7 games while handling 20 chances error-free in right. Only Luis Ramos had a better average or OBP for Puerto Rico.

He helped Puerto Rico to a Bronze in the 1993 Central American and Caribbean Games. In the 1994 Baseball World Cup, he was in center field and hit .296/.367/.444 with 7 RBI in 7 games. He was second on Puerto Rico in RBI, one shy of Efraín García. He got another Bronze at the 1995 Pan American Games.

From 1988-2004, he hit .333 for the Grises de Humacao in Puerto Rico's amateur league.
