Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Alan Dunn was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the fourth round of the 1983 amateur draft and played in the Tigers farm system in 1983 and 1984, and in the New York Mets organization in 1985.
Dunn was an assistant coach at Vanderbilt University and was a Chicago Cubs scout in 1992. From 1993 to 2007, he was a coach at various levels in the Cubs system. Dunn was the pitching coach for the Geneva Cubs (1993), Peoria Chiefs (1994), Rockford Cubbies (1995-1996), Daytona Cubs (1997), West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx (1998-2005), and Iowa Cubs (2006). He was the Cubs' minor league pitching coordinator to begin 2007.
Midway through the 2007 campaign, he joined the Baltimore Orioles as bullpen coach, holding the job through 2010. In 2011 Dunn was the Orioles' minor league pitching coordinator.
Dunn was hired as the pitching coach at Louisiana State University for 2012 staying through 2021. He then joined the staff of Arkansas State University in 2022.
