Biographical Information[edit]
Al Schellhase played in the majors in 1890 and 1891. His minor league career ran from at least 1885 to at least 1891.

In 1888 Schellhase played on the minor-league Syracuse Stars, a team which featured two African-American players, Fleet Walker and Robert Higgins. For a photo see Stars.
A book called the History of the City of Evansville and Vandenburg County, Indiana mentions Schellhase as a manager of the Evansville team, and also says that he lost an eye in an accident.
