Biographical Information[edit]

Al Jarlett was a minor league pitcher from 1937 to 1950. He won 193 games against just 112 losses. He went to Holy Cross College, and a TSN article from 1937 reports that he had become the editor of the Watertown, Conn. Sun, and might not return the next year. He returned, and the rest is history as they say, even if forgotten history. He pitched a 16-inning no-hitter for the 1939 Rocky Mount Red Sox. His 148 strikeouts for the 1942 Harrisburg Senators led the Inter-State League. He was 27-4 for the 1948 High Point-Thomasville Hi-Toms to lead the North Carolina State League in wins; in 1950, he led the league in ERA (2.63) and pitched a 7-inning no-hitter.
