Biographical Information[edit]
Ako Thomas played second base for the University of Michigan Wolverines from 2016-2019. In his senior season he helped the Wolverines reach the College World Series final where they lost to the Vanderbilt University Commodores. He was named the All-Tournament second baseman. He graduated in 2020 with a degree in health & fitness. Thomas went undrafted in both the 2019 and 2020 MLB drafts.
Thomas started his coaching career in 2020 as a student assistant coach while completing his degree. In July 2020 he moved up to a volunteer assistant coaching position with the Wolverines and stayed in that role through the end of the year.
The Boston Red Sox hired Thomas as a coach for the Portland Sea Dogs in 2021 and Salem Red Sox in 2022.
