Biographical Information[edit]
Middle infielder Adael Amador was signed by the Colorado Rockies organization on July 2, 2019. He was assigned to the Grand Junction Rockies on March 5, 2020, but the minor leagues weren't in operation that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so he had to wait until 2021 to get his professional career underway.
He debuted with the Arizona Complex League Rockies in 2021 and slashed .299/.394/.445 in 47 games. He hit 10 doubles and 4 home runs in 164 at bats, walked 27 times, and stole 10 bases. However, he committed 8 errors at shortstop for a .920 fielding percentage. His defense improved in 2022, though. Moving on to the class A Fresno Grizzlies, his fielding percentage went up to .945, and his range numbers improved. At the plate, he smacked 24 doubles and 15 long balls, which accompanied a .292/.415/.455 slash line. He walked 87 times and only struck out 67 times in 555 plate appearances. In addition, he swiped 26 bases. After the season, he was named a Rockies organizational All-Star and a California League postseason All-Star.
Prior to the 2023 season, he was rated as the #68 prospect by mlb.com. He was also rated the Rockies' #2 prospect behind Zac Veen. He was originally assigned back to Fresno, but was moved up to the A+ Spokane Indians on April 18th, a little more than a week into the season. He hit safely in 20 of his first 23 games in Spokane, and didn't have two consecutive hitless games until May 16 and 17. On May 20th, he hit three home runs in a 13-5 drubbing of the Everett AquaSox. However, he was slowed down by a broken right hamate bone in late June that forced him to miss over a month of action. He first returned with a five-game rehabilitation assignment back with the ACL Rockies, where he hit .389, then ended the season in the AA Eastern League with the Hartford Yard Goats. After batting .302 with Spokane, he hit just .143 in 10 games in AA, but his overall batting line was still good, at .287/.380/.495 in 69 games, and he was a Northwest League postseason All-Star as well as being named the top prospect in the circuit.
He started the 2024 season with Hartford. He was not setting the league on fire, hitting just .194 in 46 games, albeit with 22 stolen bases, when he got the call to Denver on June 9th, replacing 2B Brendan Rodgers who went on the injured list. he started at second base that day against the St. Louis Cardinals, hitting 8th, and went 1 for 3 in a 5-1 loss.
