Biographical Information[edit]
Akili Carris has played for the Greek national team under the name Achielleas Karaiskos.
He hit .456 as a high school junior and .495 as a senior and was All-State both years. [1] He was 1-for-7 with a hit-by-pitch and two runs as a college freshman. He then was with Greece for the 2023 European Championship, serving as their main third baseman. In his debut for them, versus champion Spain, he hit 9th and singled off Anderson de León his first time up, though he was caught stealing. He finished the Euros at .389/.522/.444 with 3 HBP and 3 runs in 6 games, while handling 14 chances error-free at the hot corner. He tied Max Jung-Goldberg, Miguel López and Robel García for the most times plunked. He also led Greece's regulars in OBP, .022 ahead of Antonio Torres-Skerrett. [2]
