Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Abiatal Avelino began his professional career in the New York Yankees system in 2012 at 17 years old and was a MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2013. In 2015, he stole 54 bases in 123 games between the Tampa Yankees and Charleston RiverDogs and reached Triple A for the first time in 2017. On August 31, 2018, he was one of two minor leaguers sent by the Yankees to the San Francisco Giants in return for outfielder Andrew McCutchen, the other being pitcher Juan De Paula. He was hitting a combined .287/.333/.446 with 15 home runs and 66 RBI in 123 games between the Double A Trenton Thunder and Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at the time of the trade. He made his debut with the Giants a week later, on September 8th. In 10 games with the big club between 2018 and 2019, he batted .278 with a run scored and an RBI.
