Biographical Information[edit]

Aaron Schunk was a two-way player at the University of Georgia, both pitching and playing third base. He won the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award in 2019. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 2nd round of the 2019 amateur draft. He hit .339 with 15 homers in 57 games in his final year in college while going 1-2, 2.49 with 12 saves in 17 games as a reliever.

The Rockies used him solely as a position player, starting with 46 games for the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League in 2019, where he hit .306/.370/.503. He was both a mid-season and a post-season All-Star. After sitting out the 2020 season because the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the minor leagues, he struggled in 2021, hitting just .224 in 89 games for the Spokane Indians. He moved up to the AA Hartford Yard Goats in 2022 and to the AAA Albuquerque Isotopes in 2023, hitting .258 and .290 respectively.

In 2024, he started the year back at Albuquerque in the Pacific Coast League where he played 3B, 2B and SS. He was hitting .291 after 69 games when he got the call to Colorado, making his debut as a pinch-hitter against the Chicago White Sox on June 29th. he filed out for Ryan McMahon in the 9th inning, then the next day started at second base for the Rox and went 0 for 3.
