The 2017 Central League Rookie of the Year Award went to Yota Kyoda, who hit .264/.297/.355 while fielding .980 as the regular shortstop for the Chunichi Dragons. He got 208 out of 286 votes.
The other vote-getters were Yusuke Oyama of the Hanshin Tigers (49 votes), the Yokohama BayStars' Haruhiro Hamaguchi (27) and Ryoma Nishikawa of the Hiroshima Carp (1). One voter picked no one.
