History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 1977 Texas Rangers were managed by four different men. Frank Lucchesi was fired in midseason. His authority had been finally undermined in spring training when he got into a fight with IF Lenny Randle and got the worst of it; Randle was released, but Lucchesi's days were counted from that moment forward. His replacement, Eddie Stanky, quit after just one game. Coach Connie Ryan filled in for six games on an interim basis. Finally, Billy Hunter was hired. The Rangers went 60-33 under Hunter's leadership and went on to finish second in the American League West.

- AL Gold Glove: Juan Beniquez (OF) and Jim Sundberg (C)
- Topps All-Star Rookie Team: Bump Wills (2B)
