1970s Topps All-Star cards

From BR Bullpen

In the 1970s, Topps issued in most of its sets of baseball cards a subset depicting the players who had been selected as the "All-Star player" at their respective position during the previous year. This would sometimes be interpreted as the player who was selected to start the previous year's All-Star Game, or had been named as part of a post-season All-Star team selected by a respected source such as The Sporting News or a news agency.

1975 Topps[edit]

Not actually a subset, the All-Stars were so designated with a star symbol on the player's regular card or - in the case of Hank Aaron - on his "Highlight" card). These players were the starting 18 players in the 1974 All-Star Game. Reggie Jackson, listed below, was not given the star designation on his card even though he was the starting RF in the game. Topps mistakenly designated just two AL outfielders.

1978 Topps[edit]

Not actually a subset, the All-Stars were so designated with a shield on the player's regular card. These players were the starting 18 players in the 1977 All-Star Game. Richie Zisk, who started the All-Star game for the White Sox, mistakenly did not get the shield on his card.
