History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

Even though they lost 100 games for the third straight season, the 1954 Pittsburgh Pirates won their 10th straight home opener, a record that stood until the 1998-2008 New York Yankees broke it. One game, Toby Atwell and Jerry Lynch hit back-to-back homers twice; no Pirate duo would copy the feat until Neil Walker and Gaby Sanchez in 2014.
