1927 International League season
The 1927 International League season marked the first in which an IL team was formally affiliated with a major league team, as Syracuse became a Cardinals affiliate and Reading a Chicago Cubs one. While Syracuse finished a strong second, Reading placed dead-last. The season also could be called the Del Bissonette show as he led the league in runs, hits, doubles, triples and RBI while tying second in home runs, four off the pace and in average.
