History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The Wilmington Quicksteps had been the top team in the Eastern League in 1884. When the Philadelphia Keystones left the Union Association, Henry Lucas convinced the Quicksteps to jump leagues. They were not successful, going 2-16 and deserting the league with two weeks left, right before a road trip. In the Eastern League, they had gone 50-12 but since they left the league, the pennant instead went to the Trenton Trentonians. Despite not finishing the season, Quicksteps SS/P Oyster Burns still led the Eastern League in runs, triples and homers.
