1867 Cincinnati Red Stockings/ Franchise: Cincinnati Red Stockings/1867 Team[edit]

History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

For the 1867 season, the club moved its home grounds to Richmond Street. It was here that the team would spend the rest of its days in Cincinnati playing at Lincoln Park. It was also here that the team would share the grounds with the Union Cricket Club. Lincoln Park was also frequently referred to as Union Grounds due to the usage by the Cricket Club.

The Cincinnati Club kicked off its season on May 25th with a 53-40 win over the Buckeyes. This year saw the team play clubs from Kentucky (Holt BBC, Louisville BBC, and Olympic BBC), Indianapolis (Western BBC, Active BBC) Washington D.C. (National BBC) and aside from the Buckeye Club, a second Ohio team, from Jamesville, the Hickory BBC. The team’s lone loss came on July 15th in a 53-10 loss to the Washington Nationals. At the time the Nationals were in the middle of a tour across the Western United States at the time.
