  Chick Gandil player rights sold to the Cleveland Indians for $7,500.

• March 27, 1916

  Signed Marv Goodwin as an amateur free agent.

• August 9, 1916

  Traded a player to be named later to Des Moines (Western). Received Claude Thomas. The Washington Nationals sent optional assignment of Pat Flaherrty and other consideration (February, 1917) to Des Moines (Western) to complete the trade.

• August 18, 1916

  Traded Joe Boehling and Danny Moeller to the Cleveland Indians. Received Joe Leonard and Elmer Smith.

• January 27, 1917

  Traded Turner Barber, Jack Bentley, Alva Williams and cash to Baltimore (International). Received Sam Crane.
