Biographical Information[edit]

Zarley Zalewski was drafted in 2012.

Zalewski, named after former NHL player Zarley Zalapski, hit .574/.693/1.222 as a high school senior. The Pittsburgh Pirates took him in the 40th round of the 2012 amateur draft, their final pick. He opted for college instead and batted .279/.368/.354 as a freshman at Kent State University while fielding .967 as a corner infielder. However, he was not drafted after graduating in 2016 and instead joined the Joliet Slammers of the independent Frontier League. In 31 games, he hit .279/.345/.510, with 6 homers and 14 RBIs.
