Biographical Information[edit]

Zak Sinclair was rated the top 13-year-old in American baseball by Baseball America in 2004. Sinclair was MVP of the USSSA Elite World Series that year, hitting 86 mph on the radar gun. For the year, he had hit .608 with 28 homers and gonr 13-0 with an ERA under 1 and 178 K in 82 IP for the Beaver Valley Red. As a junior at high school, he had a 7-1, 2.13 record with 66 K in 52 2/3 IP and hit .375. He helped his team win the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League title. In 2008, he had a 8-2, 1.29 record with only 29 hits and 97 K in 59 2/3 IP. He also batted .382. He was named the WPIAL Player of the Year. The Boston Red Sox took him in the 34th round of the 2008 amateur draft but he opted for college.

Sinclar was 1-1 with a 4.43 ERA for NC State in 2009, outperforming a fellow freshman from southwestern Pennsylvania, Cory Mazzoni. Unfortunately, Sinclar then suffered injuries that ended his career, while Mazzoni would go on to the professional ranks.
