Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Zack Gelof played for the Israeli national team at the 2023 World Baseball Classic, going 0 for 13 with a walk and seven whiffs; only Gio Urshela had more at-bats without a hit in that WBC. He still made the majors later that year, in July 2023, following Israel squad teammate Spencer Horwitz . He quickly established himself as a rare bright spot on a weak Oakland Athletics team and was named the American League Rookie of the Month in August after hitting .287 in 27 games, with 8 doubles, 7 homers and 15 RBIs.
