Biographical Information[edit]
Yukihiro Murakami played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 3 years.
Murakami was drafted by the Nankai Hawks in the fourth round of the 1976 NPB draft, and he soon became an important part of their bullpen. He was 5-8, collected 3 saves and a 3.61 ERA in 1978, and won the PL Rookie of the Year Award. However, he suffered a right elbow injury, so he only went 5-6 with a 5.20 ERA in 1979. He still struggled in 1980 as he went 4-11 with a 7.36 ERA, and he spent the next season in the NPB Farm Legaues. The Hawks released him after the 1982 season, and his professional career ended.
Overall, Murakami was 14-25, collected 5 saves with a 5.25 ERA, struck out 170 and pitched 326 innings in 3 years in the NPB.
