Yosvani Pérez Torres did not debut in the Cuban Serie Nacional until his late 20s, one season after the similarly-named Yosvani Pérez Ruiz retired. He had a fine debut season in 2007-2008 for the Naranjas de Villa Clara, going 11-3 with a 2.01 ERA. He tied for second in the league with 5 complete games (behind Pedro Luis Lazo), tied for 5th in wins, was second with 3 shutouts (one behind Jonder Martínez) and was second in ERA (behind Jonder Martínez). He was named the Rookie of the Year.

In 2008-2009, he fell back to Earth at 3-7, 5.09 with a .320 opponent average. In game three of the finals, he was lit up by La Habana in a loss as Villa Clara fell in 5 games.
