Biographical Information[edit]
Yoshinori Okoso was the owner of Nippon Ham Foods. He brought the Nittaku Home Flyers in 1973, and changed their name to the Nippon-Ham Fighters. He loved baseball very much, and he was highly respected by the players. When the Fighters won the Pacific League pennant in 1981, Okoso was thrown in the air by the players to celebrate; this ceremony was often used for managers or captains, not executives. Okoso was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009, and the Fighters retired his number 100.
