Yoshikazu Doi is a former Olympic performer.
Doi formed a battery with Akihiro Yano in high school. He joined Nippon Life Insurance after college. In the 2000 Olympics, the amateur right-hander allowed 2 runs (1 earned) in five innings but was saddled with the loss against South Korea in the round-robin phase.
Yoshikazu tossed four shutout innings in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, fanning six and allowing two hits for the Bronze Medal winners. In the 2005 Baseball World Cup, the 35-year-old Ikeda native was 1-0 with a save and a 1.38 ERA. He threw a four-hit shutout in a win over Colombia and saved the semifinal win over Puerto Rico.
