Yong-sung Park played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 7 years.
Park played for the South Korean national team in the 1980 Amateur World Series. When the KBO was founded in 1982, Park joined the Lotte Giants, and he crushed 11 homers with a .287/.357/.526 batting line. He was 7th in homers, tied with Il-kwon Kim, Jeong-soo Kim, Yong-hee Kim and Jong-do Lee. Park then blasted 17 homers with a .287/.359/.493 batting line in 1983, ranking 5th in homers (10 behind Man-soo Lee) and 2nd in RBI (10 behind Lee). He hit .222/.305/.367 in 1984, and he crushed a 2-run homer against Si-jin Kim in the 1984 Korean Series Game 1 to help the Giants beat the Samsung Lions in 7 games. Park crushed 8 homers with a .245/.330/.453 batting line in 1985, but he slumped to .194/.301/.222 in 1986. He then suffered from shoulder injury, and he announced his retirement after the 1988 season.
Overall, Park hit .258/.336/.444 with 238 hits and 43 homers in 7 seasons in the KBO.
