Yoanis Quintana has been a center fielder for the Holguin Dogs for a number of years. When Holguin won their first title in 2001-2002, he singled in Oscar del Rosario in the 12th inning of game two to give the club its first win of the championship series. Through 2004-2005, he had hit .265/.321/.389 in 9 seasons in Cuba, while fielding .970. He did not play in 2005-2006 then batted only .245/.307/.330 while starting again in 2006-2007. In 2007-2008, he produced at a .264/.312/.447 rate.
In 2008-2009, he slumped to .231/.287/.389 and had 10 outfield assists in 75 games. The next season, he hit .267/.314/.472 in a part-time role. Back as a starter in 2010-2011, he batted .294/.320/.420.
