Yaumier Sánchez Domínguez

Yaumier Sánchez pitches for Santiago de Cuba. Through 2006-2007, he had gone 5-6 with a 4.81 ERA and 86 walks in 146 innings. In 2007-2008, the right-hander improved to 9-2, 4.94 and won game two of the finals to help Santiago de Cuba to a title. He was on Cuba's provisional roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic but did not make the final cut. In 2008-2009, S was better yet, with a 10-3, 3.47 record. He was 8th in the league in wins, 6th in innings (122) and 6th in strikeouts (92) and did not finish among the walk leaders.

Sánchez was 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in the 2009 World Port Tournament, fanning 16 but walking 11 in 12 innings. He tied Miguel A. González, Maikel Folch, Rob Cordemans and Syogo Suenaga for the tourney lead in wins and led in strikeouts (one over Folch) but also led in walks.

He throws a slider, changeup and fastball (peak time 96 mph).
