Biographical Information[edit]
Yasushi Matsumoto was an Olympic player. Matsumoto played for Mitsubishi in the industrial leagues from 1979-1994, starting as a pitcher and becoming an outfielder. He was an outfielder for the Japanese national team in the 1987 Intercontinental Cup, helping them win Bronze. In the 1988 Baseball World Cup, he hit .267/.306/.511 with 7 runs and 11 RBI in 13 games as Japan's main left fielder. He tied Terushi Nakajima and Daisuke Tsutsui for the team lead in RBI. He hit .300 in the 1988 Olympics.
